Senior Educational Assistant

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM - 4:15 PM
Compensation: $14.00 per hour
Location: Siloam Springs, AR
Employment Type: Full-Time
Education Requirement: High school diploma or GED, with prior experience in early childhood education preferred. Supervisory skills are essential.
ROLE SUMMARY: This position is responsible for both direct and indirect supervision and education of children. The role includes setting objectives and goals within care plans, fostering a safe and supportive environment for learning and development, and leading classroom activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of each child's educational outcomes and effectively communicate these to assistants and parents.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of curriculum to meet developmental goals and readiness indicators.
- Maintain a classroom atmosphere that promotes learning and active participation.
- Design and implement learning activities tailored to the diverse needs and abilities of children.
- Collaborate with therapists to ensure optimal outcomes for children in the classroom.
- Develop and share lesson plans that are clear and easy for substitutes to follow.
- Prepare educational materials in advance and conduct lessons based on individualized care plans.
- Supervise and engage with children throughout the day, ensuring their educational needs are met.
- Oversee classroom schedules and ensure compliance with quality standards for early childhood programs.
- Maintain an environment that meets ITERS/ECERS standards, aiming for high ratings in classrooms.
- Assist in implementing care plans and accurately document progress in required systems.
- Work cooperatively with parents and staff to foster a positive environment.
- Ensure that only authorized individuals pick up children, adhering to record-keeping protocols.
- Report any discrepancies in staff/child ratios to supervisors immediately.
- Complete necessary documentation and progress notes promptly.
- Collect developmental data on assigned children as required.
- Maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Infection Control through annual training.
- Ensure accurate timesheet reporting in the payroll system.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
- Engage in a minimum of 15 hours of professional development annually, with additional requirements for specific classrooms.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including various support roles.
- Attend and assist with scheduled parent engagement activities.
- Report any signs of abuse or neglect to a supervisor promptly.
- Follow the established chain of command for reporting issues.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the organizational manual.
- Comply with all relevant regulations and standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. Accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with prior experience in early childhood education and supervisory capabilities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and correspondence. Proficient in writing simple communications and presenting information effectively in small group settings.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and interpret data presented in various formats.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various types of instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This role requires regular use of hands, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities are also necessary.
