About the Role

We're seeking a Mortgage Banking Specialist to join our team in Charleston, South Carolina. As a key member of our residential mortgage lending team, you will be responsible for originating and closing residential 1st mortgage loans for outside referrals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop referral contacts with realtors, builders, and other professionals.
  • Maintain knowledge of our policies, procedures, and available loan products.
  • Take applicant applications and utilize our laptop system for communication and access to daily rates and credit reports.
  • Collect documentation from applicants and deliver loan packages within set timeframes.
  • Manage pipelines for originated loans through closing and complete required management reports.
  • Communicate with branches and applicants regarding timely updates and progress reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent mandatory; four-year college degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of mortgage sales experience.
  • An established book of local referral sources.
  • Existing mortgage sales of $1 million per month.
  • Knowledge of conventional and government lending guidelines.
  • Demonstrated organizational and teamwork skills.
