Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an Energy Supply Chain Researcher to contribute to our Dynamic & Spatial Systems Analysis Group within the Decision Science Department. This role is integral to our mission, focusing on innovative solutions in energy systems.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize scientific principles and methodologies to devise cutting-edge technical solutions for mobile, embedded, desktop, web-based, and hosted applications that align with program objectives.
- Implement software engineering best practices to enhance processes and information visualization.
- Employ modeling and simulation techniques to tackle intricate challenges across diverse domains, including nuclear energy, chemistry, digital twins, critical infrastructure, energy delivery, and energy security.
- Conduct analysis, testing, modification, documentation, and maintenance of models or simulation systems pertinent to scientific fields.
- Carry out assigned computational analysis and modeling tasks effectively.
- Make informed selections and modifications of technical alternatives based on project needs.
- Develop and assess designs, requirements, operational documentation, and testing protocols.
- Optimize and program software using relevant technologies, including C/C++/C#, Python, and Java, while continuously upgrading skills with state-of-the-art technology.
- Provide expert consultation on applicable technologies, requirements, operations, and testing to project teams.
- Deliver high-quality features that surpass client expectations.
- May provide mentorship to junior staff and lead project groups.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline from an accredited institution.
- Experience in simulation and modeling techniques, including agent-based modeling (Anylogic), system dynamics (Stella, Vensim), and process modeling (Aspen).
- Knowledge of techno-economic analysis and life cycle assessment methodologies.
- Competitive salary range: Level 1 ($63,528 - $130,284) / Level 2 ($75,804 - $155,496), determined by education, relevant experience, and credentials.
