Position Overview:
The Senior Underwriter is responsible for the evaluation and management of renewal accounts for brokers and producers within the designated territory, ensuring adherence to company underwriting guidelines, authority levels, and pricing standards while maintaining the integrity of the AmTrust organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts research and develops new business classes as directed, while analyzing market trends and competitive landscape.
  • Evaluates market feasibility, recommends form wording for endorsements and exclusions, and supports pricing adjustments aligned with global strategies.
  • Reviews individual risks with assigned brokers, making informed decisions to accept or decline business based on comprehensive information.
  • Utilizes advanced technical expertise to analyze loss exposures, determine appropriate premium charges, and establish endorsements and exclusions tailored to the risk.
  • Aims to meet production and loss ratio objectives with assigned agents/brokers through effective management and marketing strategies.
  • Addresses complex issues related to coverage, terms, and conditions, continuously analyzing premium and loss performance by state and major business classes.
  • Oversees policy maintenance tasks and mid-term requests, including conducting policy audits.
  • Reviews endorsement requests and authorizes necessary policy changes, while collaborating with agents/brokers to ensure compliance with loss control recommendations.
  • Travels to broker offices for training or marketing engagements as needed and entertains clients visiting the company.
  • Contributes to the development of marketing strategies for underwriting events and campaigns.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial lines property and casualty underwriting.
  • Proven expertise in Excess Casualty coverage, risk selection, and pricing methodologies, including familiarity with ISO classifications.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed risk decisions.
  • Ability to contribute to both tactical and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Collaborative mindset to work effectively with diverse individuals within the area of expertise.

Preferred:
  • CPCU, AIS, or CIC designation preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
