Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting In-Depth Tax Research: Analyze current tax legislation, regulations, and case law to ensure compliance and identify planning opportunities.
- Formulating Tax Planning Strategies: Develop effective approaches to minimize clients' tax obligations while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and international tax laws.
- Providing Guidance on Business Transactions: Offer tax-related counsel on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other business dealings to enhance tax efficiency.
- Drafting Legal Documentation: Prepare tax opinions, memoranda, and other legal documents that clearly articulate tax advice and strategies to clients.

- Representation Before Tax Authorities: Advocate for clients in disputes with tax authorities, including audits, appeals, and litigation.
- Client Advisory: Provide ongoing counsel to clients regarding tax matters impacting their businesses and personal finances, including implications of new tax laws.
- Compliance and Reporting Support: Assist clients with tax compliance, reporting obligations, and documentation across various jurisdictions.
- Collaborative Efforts: Partner with accountants, financial planners, and other professionals to deliver comprehensive tax advice and planning services.
- Educational Initiatives: Keep clients informed about significant tax developments through newsletters, seminars, and webinars.
- Negotiating Tax Settlements: Engage with tax authorities to resolve outstanding tax liabilities, penalties, and interest through settlements or payment arrangements.
Qualifications:
Admission to the Texas Bar and an LL.M. are required. A billable hour requirement of 1850 is expected. This position offers extensive opportunities for direct client interaction and independent management of cases, along with chances to develop business, though this is not mandatory.
