Dermatology Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dermatology Technician to join our team at Heartland Dermatology Center. As a key member of our MOHS team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our dermatologists in delivering high-quality patient services.

Responsibilities:

1. Escort patients to examination/surgery rooms and prepare them for examination and/or surgery.
2. Gather patient history, review systems, and take past, family, and social history.
3. Document all information from visits and input it into the patient's medical record.
4. Educate patients on medication use and home care.
5. Prepare Mohs maps for the next surgery day and check in specimen slides.
6. Perform wound checks, complete referrals, and coordinate with other specialties.
7. Assist providers with patient consults, pre-operative preparations, and examination procedures.
8. Enter and complete prescriptions through Allscripts as directed by the provider.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Requirements:

• High school graduate.
• Graduate of an MA program or comparable experience.
• Willingness to use nursing skills and learn dermatological procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as a team player.
• Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
• Ability to lift and carry 20 lbs, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Proficiency in using basic medical math skills and problem-solving abilities.

Work Environment:

The position is in a well-lighted medical office environment with occasional evening and weekend work. The ideal candidate will possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Medical Assistant, such as standing for 90 percent of the day, manual dexterity, and mobility to complete errands as needed.
