Dermatology Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Dermatology Technician to join our team at Heartland Dermatology Center. As a key member of our MOHS team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our dermatologists in delivering top-notch medical services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for escorting patients to examination/surgery rooms, gathering patient history, preparing patients for examination and/or surgery, and documenting all information from visits. Additionally, you will assist with triage of patient items and phone calls, make pathology calls, and perform wound checks. You will also complete referrals and coordinate with other specialties, assist with patient consults, and complete pre-operative preparations.

1. Escort patients to examination/surgery rooms
2. Gather history of present illness/concerns
3. Prepare patients for examination and/or surgery
4. Document all information from visit and input in the patient's medical record
5. Assist with triage of patient items and phone calls
6. Make pathology calls
7. Perform wound checks
8. Complete referrals and coordinate with other specialties
9. Assist with patient consults
10. Complete pre-operative preparations
11. Assist with examination and/or surgery as required

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a high school graduate or equivalent, a graduate of an MA program or comparable experience, and be willing to use nursing skills. You will also need to be able to take initiative, possess strong attention to detail, and be able to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff.

The position is in a well-lighted medical office environment. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

You will need to possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Medical Assistant, such as standing for 90 percent of the day, manual dexterity to operate office machines, and mobility to complete errands as needed.
