Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated EHS Specialist to join our team at the Connecticut Institute for Communities, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of classroom routines, curriculum, meals, and related activities for pre-school and/or infant toddler children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of classroom routines and curriculum.
  • Support the Lead Teacher in supervising and caring for children in the classroom.
  • Assist with mealtime routines and ensure the health and safety of children.
  • Participate in professional development training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or Education Services Professional.
Requirements
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate or a commitment to obtain a CDA within 1 year of employment.
  • Early Childhood Education Credits are preferred; and/or Associate and/or Bachelor degrees are preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Previous babysitting or childcare experience is preferred.
  • Basic computer experience is required.
Working Conditions
  • Work areas are inside a climate-controlled environment with moderate background noise.
  • May be exposed to bodily fluids, cleaning supplies, and bloodborne pathogens found in general early childhood education environments.
  • 70% inside, 30% outside the Center. Weather appropriate attire is expected for staff to meet outdoor program requirements.
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit or stand for long periods of time, talk, hear, write, reach to the top of a five drawer filing cabinet and lift children weighing 40 pounds, 20 times a day if needed.
Equipment Used
  • Computer, printer, calculator, telephone, facsimile, copier, scanner, and Microsoft suite, Creative Curriculum, approved cleaning supplies, PPE, electronic student and education software, child appropriate classroom supplies.
Compliance

This position requires compliance with CIFC Early Learning Program's written standards, including its Compliance Program and all organizational policies and procedures. Such compliance will be considered as part of the employee's regular performance evaluation.
