Position Details:

The Staff Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions as either a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and is an integral member of the care delivery team. The Staff APP is tasked with setting standards for care quality and level, holding responsibility, authority, and accountability for care provision through collaboration with a supervising physician. This role encompasses the foundations of leadership, partnership, and supervision.

The ideal candidate will be evaluated based on their years of experience for employment purposes.

  • Exhibit the knowledge and skills essential for providing care and interacting appropriately with patients.
  • Demonstrate understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan.
  • Possess the ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret necessary information to identify each patient's age-specific needs.
  • Deliver care in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, support staff, and patients/families.
  • Capability to work effectively within a complex healthcare environment.
  • Manage multiple priorities and specialized equipment efficiently.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills related to various aspects of patient care.
  • Exhibit sound clinical judgment.
  • Possess critical thinking skills necessary to guide others in applying acceptable standards of practice.
  • Physical stamina for frequent mobility, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

This position is contingent upon the successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, as applicable to the practice.

Licensure, Education, Certifications, and Clearances:

For PA:

  • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program is mandatory.
  • BS or MS candidates are preferred.
  • Prior experience as a physician assistant or in a clinical setting is advantageous.
  • Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
  • Current CPR certification is necessary.
  • Act 34 Clearance is required.

For CRNP:

  • Successful completion of an accredited nurse practitioner program is required.
  • BSN or MSN is preferred.
  • Professional nursing and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred.
  • Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required.
  • National certification and eligibility for licensure by the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing are necessary.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Act 34 Clearance is required.
