Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our team at Cave Creek Unified School District. The successful candidate will provide support to special education teachers and staff in delivering an individualized special education program for students with special needs in a general education classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist special education teachers and staff in developing and implementing plans to meet students' individual goals and objectives.
  • Support the development of social and behavioral skills in students, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Accompany students to and from class as needed, providing a safe and supportive environment.
  • Work independently with students or small groups on concepts introduced by the supervising teacher.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with families and students.
  • Implement strategies and techniques tailored to individual students' needs, as required.
  • Collect and disseminate data and reports to special education staff and parents.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as necessary.
  • Modify classroom and homework materials to meet the needs of students requiring accommodations.
  • Adhere to FERPA policies and laws, maintaining confidentiality regarding special education students.
  • Employ effective strategies for managing student behavior.
  • Participate in training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance professional skills.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of individual students' needs, interests, abilities, and disabilities.
  • Complete monthly MIPS forms.
  • Monitor students' behavior in and out of the classroom, accompanying them to and from class as needed.
  • Reinforce therapy goals and skills.
  • Assist students in staying on task, redirecting and refocusing them as needed, and offering praise and contingency rewards.
  • Utilize effective strategies for managing student behavior.
  • Maintain professionalism when interacting with families, avoiding personal involvement outside of school.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education; Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or met the State Paraprofessional Academic Assessment.
  • Knowledge of special education disabilities and classifications, process, and laws preferable.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults.
  • Knowledge in all academic areas.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Computer skills.
