Athletic Trainer, Orthopedics, Durable Medical Equipment Specialist

As an Athletic Trainer, Orthopedics, Durable Medical Equipment, you will play a vital role in the management of patient/athlete visits within the clinic, performing a range of clinical responsibilities in support of the physicians. Your primary focus will be on assisting with the management of patient/athlete visits, participating in community outreach, and conducting presentations on various Athletic Training Topics.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Management: Interact regularly with patients and others involved in the patient/athlete's care to incorporate an interdisciplinary treatment approach for coordinated quality care.
- Initial Patient History and Vital Signs: Obtain initial patient history, vital signs, and/or follow-up status and present to the physician in preparation for their exam of the patient/athlete.
- Ancillary Studies: Request and organize ancillary studies (X-rays, MRI, CT scans, lab work, etc.) and present for the physician's review.
- Preparation for Physician Arrival: Prepare the patient for physician arrival, injection, or other office procedure specific to each physician preference.
- Postoperative Care: Perform postoperative dressing changes, staple or suture removal as directed by the physician, and instruct the patient on postoperative or post-injury wound care or dressing care.
- Supervision and Delegation: Provide supervision and delegate tasks to Student Athletic Trainers and/or Intern Athletic Trainers, and mentor new staff members as needed.
- Equipment and Supplies: Assist with care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies, and ensure the basic daily and weekly maintenance, general cleanliness, and upkeep of stock in rooms.
- Education: South Carolina DHEC Athletic Training Certificate required.
- Certification: National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) required.
- Physical Demands: Requires a high level of physical activity and endurance, with constant movement and frequent heavy lifting required.
