Clinical Laboratory Specialist

Job Summary :
At Kent Hospital, we are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. This role is crucial in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of various medical conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of patient specimens, adhering to established procedures.
- Collect and handle specimens with precision and care.
- Operate complex biomedical electronic instrumentation, ensuring calibration, maintenance, quality assurance, and troubleshooting.
- Perform and analyze quality control procedures, including daily testing, recording, problem resolution, and compiling reports to ensure accuracy of results.
- Review and verify the accuracy of test results before entering them into the information system.
- Inventory management, maintaining a proper stock of supplies to minimize downtime.
- Evaluate test results for accuracy, reportability, and clinical significance and report accordingly.
- Stay current with industry developments by attending seminars, in-services, and reading journals.
- Evaluate new methodologies and instrumentation under the guidance of the Section Chief and report findings and recommendations.
- In the absence of the Department Head, assume supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
MLT: An Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and a minimum of six months of job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI License and ASCP/AMT certification are also necessary.
MT: A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a Specific Science and a minimum of six months of job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI License and ASCP or NCA certification are also necessary.
