Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at Kent Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various administrative and clerical duties in conjunction with reference laboratories to ensure efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and capillary puncture, to collect blood samples for laboratory testing.
- Process and prepare laboratory specimens for analysis, including labeling, sorting, and storing.
- Assist with the maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies, including ordering and inventory management.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate's degree in biological science or a related field, or a high school diploma with additional phlebotomy certification or training in clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
- Phlebotomy certification and up-to-date competency in phlebotomy procedures.
- Familiarity with laboratory terminology, sample handling procedures, and laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
