Job Title: Paralegal

Our client, a private non-profit organization, is seeking a Paralegal to assist with the management of the Agency's civil legal assistance program. This paralegal will provide management and vision to ensure quality, trauma-informed legal services to community-based clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage attorney calendars to avoid scheduling conflicts and ensure efficient use of time.
  • Monitor court deadlines and scheduled court hearings to ensure timely preparation and response.
  • Schedule and reschedule client appointments to accommodate changing needs and priorities.
  • Complete client intake, input, and update client data into case management systems as necessary.
  • Create, maintain, and close client files, including digital files, to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Compose and type basic legal documents, correspondences, pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and other necessary documents.
  • Assist attorneys with preparation for trial, mediations, depositions, and motion hearings to ensure effective representation.
  • File and record legal documents electronically, in person, or by mail to ensure timely and accurate submission.
  • Handle communications with clients, opposing parties, witnesses, and other guests of the Litigation Advocacy Program with professionalism and courtesy.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree required; Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Two years of demonstrated effective experience as a Paralegal.
  • Family law experience preferred.
  • Belief in a strengths-based approach to human services.
  • Understanding and demonstration of the organization's values, fostering the same with direct reports.
  • Performance of quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Ability to effectively work with and serve the community in Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union counties.
  • Organizational skills and ability to troubleshoot, manage crises, and prioritize work frequently to address immediate issues while keeping on target to reach established goals and objectives.
  • Ability to use a personal vehicle at times for transportation to meetings and occasionally working evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and data management environments.
Compensation:
  • $45K-$55K depending on experience.
Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday, 8:30-5 hours.
  • They are moving towards a 32-hour work week starting in January; compensation will not be affected by this.
