POSITION: ASSET PROTECTION SPECIALIST

POSITION SUMMARY

The Asset Protection Specialist is responsible for implementing asset safeguarding initiatives for retail locations and donation centers, as well as the corporate office within the state. This role includes managing access control systems, alarm systems, and overseeing workers' compensation and general liability claims, ensuring the safety of all personnel and stakeholders involved in the mission of Goodwill Industries of Arkansas. The specialist will provide training and resources to staff to enhance their ability to protect organizational assets. It is essential to maintain a positive workplace culture that aligns with Goodwill's core values and mission in all interactions with colleagues, clients, and management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate operational procedures to ensure the security of inventory, cash, equipment, and other organizational assets. This task is performed daily, approximately 20% of the time.
  • Act as the safety coordinator, conducting facility inspections and contributing to safety training initiatives. This includes identifying safety hazards and advising staff on compliance with safety regulations. Investigate incidents to confirm legitimacy as required. This task is performed weekly, approximately 10% of the time.
  • Investigate instances of potential or actual inventory loss and cash discrepancies. Prepare thorough and timely reports of investigations, providing recommendations for enhancements and maintaining accurate records of loss prevention efforts. This task is performed as needed, approximately 10% of the time.
  • Analyze sales data, inventory levels, cash flow, and other operational metrics to identify trends and anomalies that warrant further examination. Assist in reviewing standard operating procedures for potential improvements. This task is performed daily, approximately 15% of the time.
  • Provide training to retail team members on loss prevention strategies and methods for safeguarding assets. This task is performed weekly, approximately 5% of the time.
  • Coordinate with the workers' compensation representative to ensure timely submission of necessary documentation and address any outstanding issues. This task is performed as needed, approximately 10% of the time.
  • Prepare regular reports for upper management regarding general liability matters. This task is performed as needed, approximately 10% of the time.
  • Collaborate with various corporate departments and local law enforcement to address investigations and audits related to asset losses. This task is performed daily, approximately 10% of the time.
  • Oversee the proper functioning and maintenance of alarm systems, employee access systems, and surveillance equipment. This task is performed daily, approximately 10% of the time.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent, along with specialized training and/or relevant work experience in a specific skill area; for example, data processing, administrative support, or equipment operation, plus 12 to 18 months of related experience and/or training, including management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
High School diploma or equivalent required. A criminal background check is mandatory. Proficiency in asset protection principles, including loss causes and prevention strategies, is essential. Must be skilled in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. Some overnight travel within the state may be necessary. A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience in investigative roles or interviewing, along with relevant certifications.
