Role Overview: Southern Integrated Solutions and Consulting (SISC) is seeking an Accounting Specialist. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team member, capable of managing multiple tasks, and quick to adapt to new challenges. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly financial statements for SISC funds.
  • Manage deposits and transfers.
  • Conduct daily bank reconciliations.
  • Oversee payroll processing.
  • Prepare year-end W-2s, 10-99s, transmittals, and grant administration.
  • Compile quarterly payroll tax reports and workmen's compensation insurance reports.
  • Facilitate employee benefit payment remittance (health insurance, 401k, etc.).
  • Maintain comprehensive accounting records, including financial statements, general ledgers, journals, check registers, earnings records, working papers, and supporting documentation.
  • Track records of vacation and sick leave payable.
  • Prepare monthly budgets and reports for effective tracking of actual versus budgeted expenditures.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure compliance of SISC's financial statements with generally accepted accounting principles applicable to governments and adherence to relevant laws, regulations, contracts, and grants.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration (with a finance/accounting minor).
  • Preferred: Professional certification such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Required Skills:

  • Ability to manage accounts payable, benefits, and payroll.
  • Proficient in compiling accurate and timely monthly and yearly accounting reports.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Familiarity with accounting software.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional multitasking abilities.
