Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy operations and fulfill assigned duties effectively.
  • Offer consultative support to physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy management.
  • Oversee quality assessment and improvement initiatives, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Document and report any suspected adverse drug reactions and medication-related incidents.
  • Ensure optimal medication therapy to enhance patient outcomes and quality of life.
  • Address unit-specific patient care challenges related to pharmacy services.
  • Provide patient education tailored to the specialty area.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations.
  • Demonstrate competency in addressing the age-specific needs of the patient population.
  • Engage in community education initiatives to disseminate drug information.
  • Collaborate in the development of clinical pathways through a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Mentor pharmacy students in the specialty area.
  • Participate in formulary and therapeutic committees, presenting drug information and monitoring non-formulary medication use.
  • Be available for on-call clinical services as required.
  • Adhere to safety standards and complete annual educational requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: No specific educational requirements; however, qualifications must meet the standards for licensure and certification as mandated by the relevant authorities.

Experience: Proven communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to conduct drug utilization evaluations and disseminate pharmaceutical information to healthcare professionals. Pharmacy residency training and experience in oncology are preferred.

Licensure: Must possess a current pharmacist license in Tennessee.
