Position Overview:
The role involves the strategic management of an international transportation budget exceeding $100 million, encompassing ocean, air, and drayage transportation modes. The successful candidate will formulate and implement plans to achieve or surpass annual operational targets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Leadership in Continuous Improvement:** Oversee the international transportation department's enhancement initiatives, including leading daily operational meetings, managing productivity and service projects, and conducting monthly carrier collaboration sessions.
2. **Bid Management:** Collaborate with procurement to develop and execute an annual bidding process, ensuring alignment with volume requirements and operational standards.
3. **Regulatory Compliance:** Ensure adherence to export regulations, including licenses and free trade agreements, as well as import compliance protocols.
4. **Carrier Management:** Facilitate weekly and quarterly business review meetings with steamship lines and non-vessel-operating common carriers, while monitoring key operational and financial metrics.
5. **Operational Support:** Address daily operational needs for the North American business, collaborating with various departments such as customer service, sales, and legal.
Export Compliance Duties:
1. Guarantee compliance with export regulations, including license applications and documentation.
2. Manage the Solas VGM process and federal excise tax processes.
3. Conduct research for long-term supplier declarations and USMCA bill of material.
Transportation and Operational Management:
1. Lead daily operational meetings, focusing on metrics and root cause analysis to drive improvements.
2. Oversee the North American ocean bid process, ensuring operational requirements are met.
3. Develop and share monthly forecasts with carriers.
Import Compliance Duties:
1. Manage CTPAT cargo mapping and ISF processing.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in supply chain management, business, logistics, computer science, or a related field.
Experience: 4-6 years in supply chain/logistics within a large multinational organization, with 2-4 years specifically in international transportation and compliance.
Knowledge and Skills:
1. Expertise in international compliance (import/export).
2. Strong analytical capabilities and proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis techniques.
5. Proficient in creating and maintaining complex Excel financial models.
6. Familiarity with Microsoft Access and database management.
