Job Title: Cath Lab Specialty Technologist

Covenant Health (Tennessee) is seeking a skilled Cath Lab Specialty Technologist to join our team at Parkwest Medical Center. As a key member of our cardiovascular team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our heart hospital.

Job Summary:

The Cath Lab Specialty Technologist will assist cardiologists and cardiac surgeons in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and angiography procedures. This includes measuring cardiovascular parameters, operating electronic instruments, and calculating hemodynamic data. The ideal candidate will possess clinical expertise and knowledge of unit procedures to independently resolve complex patient management and physician issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Possesses clinical expertise and knowledge of unit procedures to independently resolve complex patient management and physician issues.
  • Serves as a role model by assuming the role of team leader and the responsibilities of a preceptor, cross-training other areas, and providing education to the community and department.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, general safety and radiation safety standards, and equipment quality control.
  • Actively participates in the orientation and training of new employees and students.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in complex clinical skills, including right and left heart catheterizations, PTCIs, stenosis, ablations, and pacemakers.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in cardiac anatomy and physiology, correlating pressure wave forms and rhythm analysis.
  • Proficient in patient assessment, monitoring, and sterile technique as required.
  • Assists in the maintenance and effective use of all equipment and supplies in the clinical areas.
  • Member of department or hospital committee with documented participation of 75%.
  • Responds appropriately and timely to patients, physicians, and other customer needs.
  • Provides nine (9) credit hours of in-service training per year.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
  • Minimum Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience, including at least two (2) years of professional Cath Lab experience. Experience to include: clinical expertise and knowledge for structural heart, high-risk PTCI, peripheral vascular, carotid intervention, T-car, cardiac electrophysiology, cardiac ablations, and cardiac resynchronization management demonstrated by observation and documented on a competency checklist.
  • Licensure Requirement: Must hold current registration as a CCI Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) and/or CCI Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) and/or ARRT RT(R) -- preferably with a VI or CI category designation.
