Job Summary:

As a Sterile Processing Technician II at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by processing and sterilizing medical equipment and supplies. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fills orders from requesting departments and ensures timely delivery of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Performs decontamination, cleaning, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical equipment and supplies in accordance with CDC, OSHA, EPA, AAMI, Title 22, APIC, SGNA, and JC guidelines.
  • Operates and maintains various equipment in the Sterile Processing Department, including steam sterilizers, plasma sterilizers, automated endoscope reprocessors, and biological incubators.
  • Examines and maintains the integrity of sterile packages and prepares OR case carts according to preference cards on all surgical procedures.
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers and promotes a collaborative environment.

Requirements:

  • Two years of recent experience as a Sterile Processing Technician or a Surgical Technician with two years of recent experience working in a Sterile Processing Department in an acute hospital.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) and completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Program or a Surgical Technician program.
  • Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution - Technician Certification or Registered Central Service Technician Certificate or Surgical Technologist Certificate.
