Medical Care Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Medical Aide to join our team at Exceptional Staffing Solutions. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality care to elderly patients.
">Job OverviewThis position involves administering medications, assisting patients with daily activities, and promoting a safe and respectful environment. As a Registered Medical Aide, you will work closely with registered nurses and licensed practical nurses to ensure the best possible care for our residents.
Earn an estimated $45,000 - $55,000 per year.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse
- Demonstrate knowledge of medications and administration techniques
- Administer medication(s) per unit dose system
- Complete the medication pass within regulation timeframe and without error
- Document and sign all medication administration records daily
- Be knowledgeable on classifications of each medication administered and facilitate patient awareness of medication purpose and effect
- Communicate and give appropriate information but never give medical advice or diagnosis
- Use medical terminology appropriately in administration of medications
- Follow proper procedures for pouring/preparing medications, various instillations and treatments
- Store and secure all medications per regulations
- Keep medication cart within direct view at all times, keep locked when unattended
- Document all medication errors on incident report and report to staff nurse
- Understand implications of Residents' Rights regarding medication, treatment decisions and confidentiality and record and report all refusals in appropriate manner
- Provide personal/nursing care in accordance with a resident care plan
- Monitor & respond to resident requests and needs in a dignified and respectful manner
- Assist in preparing residents for various activities within and outside the center
- Ensure that all resident care is provided in a dignified and respectful manner
- Perform basic nursing care procedures for residents as required
- Assist with mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Create a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents and ensure their needs are met
- Maintain resident documentation records for activities of daily living, restorative programs, and resident-specific forms
- Maintain and work within the established departmental, center, and corporate policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement programs, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards
- Attend and participate in scheduled training, educational classes, and orientation programs to maintain certification and enhance the quality of care
- Perform other related activities as assigned or requested
- High school diploma or GED certificate or higher
- Must have completed the medication training by a state-approved trainer
- Must have current Medication Aide license through Virginia Board of Nursing; RMA License
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- BLS/CPR Certificate
