Shipping Operations Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shipping Lead to join our team at Leader Tech. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of our shipping area, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of products to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and prioritize work for the team to meet production and shipping deadlines.
  • Allocate and manage resources to optimize shipping operations.
  • Train new team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Initiate Lean Projects to drive process improvement and cost savings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Load materials and products according to designated shipping requirements.
  • Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records.
  • Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure packing specifications are met.
  • Measure, weigh, and count products and materials.
  • Mark and label containers, tag, or products.
  • Remove completed or defective products or materials.
  • Assemble, line, and pad cartons, crates, and containers using hand tools.
  • Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
  • Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
  • Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
  • Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges, using computer or price list.
  • Assist with reports of defective materials or questionable conditions to find a timely solution.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to three years of experience leading a team in a manufacturing shipping department.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by management.
