Safety Manager Job Description

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for overseeing Project Safety and Health (S&H), and Risk Management, effectively managing multiple Safety programs, developing, and implementing site-specific project safety plans, and collaborating with Project Management in the implementation and leadership of the Operational Risk Management (ORM) process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement safety training plans and curriculums.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and provide OSHA 10, 30, and CPR/FA training.
  • Redesign training material, programs, and the employee experience in hands-on training.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Mentor safety professionals and cross-train with other safety professionals, communicating updates to safety training material across the organization.
  • Stay current with all regulatory, operational, and technical matters relative to safety management and safety training programs.
  • Participate in meetings with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors, advising on project-specific Risk and Hazard mitigation plans, S&H training program, and technical reports.
Requirements:
  • 5-7 years of safety management experience, with a focus on developing and implementing training programs.
  • 5-7 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in safety management.
  • Experience conducting S&H training, regulatory compliance, and expertise in 1910, 1926, and EM-385.
  • Safety Management Systems knowledge, skill, and experience.
  • ANSI-Z10, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 31000 certifications.
  • Understanding of culture and culture-building skills.
  • OSHA 500/502 certifications.
  • Safety and Health/Occupational Safety degree from an ABET-accredited program (preferred).
  • Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) or equivalent certification.
  • Willingness to pursue Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certifications.
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI w/ Polygraph as required for the program.
  • Previous electrical, construction, industrial, federal, and commercial S&H experience.
Abilities:
  • Ability to work with computer screens for extended periods.
  • Sitting for extended periods.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Finger dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms.
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Identify and understand the speech of another person.
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI w/ Polygraph if required for the project.
