Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

Key Responsibilities
  • Practice independently and collaboratively with other healthcare team members to ensure a comprehensive plan of care for patients.
  • Perform developmental assessments and screenings, conduct diagnostic and screening tests, and initiate and evaluate treatment regimens.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people to inform the healthcare team of plans and actions for teaching and education.
  • Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program or a Psychiatric and Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (PMHCNS) program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
  • Certification: Board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or other recognized certifying body.
  • Experience: Worked continuously as a prescribing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist for two of the last three years.
  • Licensure: Must pass and maintain a current, active, valid, unrestricted license as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist in at least one U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.
