Job Title: Animal Care Trainee

Emory University is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Animal Care Trainee to join our dedicated Animal Care team. As a key member of our team, you will assist with husbandry and activities related to the daily operations of the National Primate Research Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate cage washers and ensure equipment is in proper working order.
  • Assist in the collection of blood, urine, and feces from animals for medical research.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required.
  • Work with potentially hazardous agents and follow established guidelines for humane care and welfare of laboratory animals.
Requirements:
  • Ability to read and write and lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated outstanding working habits, including ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience working in a biosafety environment and with non-human primates.
  • Communication skills, including ability to write and understand English and follow written and oral instructions.
Working Environment:

This position has an indoor/outdoor work environment that may require working in inclement weather conditions. You will be exposed to biohazards and potentially dangerous animals. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

Maintains adequate inventory of necessary supplies and equipment. Assists with performing minor repairs and maintains animal housing facility.
