This role provides critical support to the anesthesia department by ensuring the efficient operation of equipment, supplies, and services. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and organized environment, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies for each surgical case
- Ensure anesthesia machines are properly set up and functioning in surgical suites
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and collaborate with Biomed to resolve problems
- Partner with schedulers and unit management to anticipate special needs of anesthesiologists
- Respond promptly to requests from anesthesiologists during cases
- Assist anesthesiologists in surgical suites as needed, particularly during emergencies or difficult intubations
- Contribute to room turnover and prepare anesthesia equipment for the next case
- Restock anesthesia supplies in the sterile processing department as needed
- Collaborate with other care site staff and departments to support anesthesia supply ordering and inventory
- Perform general cleanup in Perioperative Services
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification required upon hire or within 60 days of hire with prior approval
- One year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital preferred
- Understanding of medical terminology preferred
This role requires the ability to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs. The employee must be able to verbally communicate and hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity is required to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. The employee must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients and navigate crowded and busy rooms.
