We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join our team in the Laboratory of Neurogenetics & Neuroscience at the University of Florida. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research atmosphere, working on genetic determinants of brain health and disease.
Research FocusThe research focuses on the genetic etiology of neurodegeneration using a combination of population and pedigree-based molecular genetics, bioinformatics, and applied statistics. Our team has made significant contributions to the understanding of Parkinson's disease and has developed novel therapeutics for clinical trials.
Responsibilities- Conduct high-throughput sequencing, genotyping, and Sanger sequencing experiments
- Apply bioinformatics tools and statistical analysis to interpret data
- Design and execute experiments to investigate genetic determinants of neurologic disease
A recent Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. in a field directly relevant to human genetics, molecular, and/or population genetics. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience in the collection and analysis of data.
Preferred Qualifications- Prior experience of molecular biology at the bench as applied to high-throughput sequencing
- Strong record of productivity from previous training
- High level of independence in the design and execution of experiments
