ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, execute, and enhance environmental initiatives at SpaceX's operational site.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations set forth by federal and state environmental agencies.
- Monitor, analyze, and interpret new and upcoming environmental legislation, providing strategic advice to leadership.
- Conduct environmental assessments to verify compliance with regulatory standards.
- Manage the hazardous materials program, compliance timelines, and environmental tracking systems.
- Oversee operational compliance plans, including stormwater management and waste discharge permits.
- Maintain documentation and compliance protocols for permitted environmental sources.
- Handle hazardous waste management and reporting obligations under state and federal regulations.
- Coordinate with contractors for environmental assessments and permitting processes, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Support the Environmental Health and Safety team in maintaining operational compliance.
- Assist in planning for facility modifications, reviewing new equipment and processes to meet regulatory standards.
- Foster positive relationships with federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure environmental considerations are integrated into projects.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and managing environmental compliance programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in environmental management or engineering with a focus on environmental engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance within a manufacturing context.
- Familiarity with Florida's environmental regulations and compliance practices.
- Experience in managing air emissions permits and industrial discharge permits.
- Proficiency in developing stormwater pollution prevention plans and best management practices.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data.
- Proven ability to analyze and apply regulations to practical scenarios.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment, managing multiple projects effectively.
- Self-motivated with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position requires relocation to the operational area if not already local.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to pass a background check for security clearance.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary range:
Environmental Engineer/Level I: $95,000 - $115,000 annually
Environmental Engineer/Level II: $110,000 - $130,000 annually
Your salary will be determined based on your qualifications and experience.
In addition to base salary, you may be eligible for long-term incentives, comprehensive health benefits, retirement plans, and paid time off.
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must meet U.S. Government export regulations, including citizenship or residency requirements.
