Job Summary

The Medical Assistant Specialist plays a vital role in the patient-centered medical home (PCMH) care team at Optimus Health Care, Inc. This position is responsible for ensuring the complete and timely patient flow process. The ideal candidate will have a professional positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers health questionnaires to patients and updates patient information in the electronic medical record system.
  • Serves as a chaperone during intimate exams and assists with scheduling of tests and treatments.
  • Maintains infection control and safety guidelines, and confidentiality and privacy policies.
  • Assists with administrative tasks as needed and explores community resources available to meet patient needs.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • Professional Medical Assistant Certification obtained through one of the following agencies.
  • Experience in a clinical setting and familiarity working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Bilingual: Spanish-English or English/Creole helpful; demonstrates ability to effectively interpret medical terminology.
  • CPR certification required upon hire and recertification bi-annually.
