POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is tasked with executing a range of repair and upkeep activities to guarantee the effective functioning and maintenance of educational facilities. This role is vital for sustaining a secure, operational, and visually appealing atmosphere for all stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on various building systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform inspections to detect potential issues or safety hazards within the premises.
  • Address maintenance requests and work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Repair or replace defective components, fixtures, and equipment as necessary.
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks to prolong the lifespan of systems and equipment.
  • Keep precise records of maintenance actions, repairs, and inspections.
  • Work collaboratively with cleaning staff to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the facilities.
  • Assist in the setup and teardown for school-related events and activities.
  • Oversee outdoor maintenance, including basic landscaping and snow removal.
  • Utilize and maintain maintenance tools and equipment effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations in all maintenance tasks.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and initiate restocking when necessary.
  • Coordinate with external service providers for specialized repairs or services as needed.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance situations and provide prompt solutions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTSEducation

- High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

- Prior experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a similar field is preferred.

Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in the use of maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
