Medical Physicist

The Medical Physicist plays a crucial role in the field of radiation oncology by delivering a range of essential medical physics services. This includes the development of techniques for standardizing and calibrating imaging and therapy equipment. The physicist is responsible for treatment planning for unique cases and serves as a knowledgeable resource for colleagues regarding treatment strategies, simulations, and the fabrication of specialized devices. The accuracy of treatment plans is validated, and consultations are provided to physicians as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitates the treatment planning process and other related procedures.
- Implements and oversees quality control protocols.
- Documents and compiles all aspects of medical physics services.
- Engages in performance enhancement and radiation safety initiatives.
- Fosters a collaborative work environment and contributes to the overall team dynamics of the department.
- Achieves assigned objectives and goals.
Education
Minimum: Master’s degree and Board Eligible in medical physics as recognized by the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
Experience
Preferred: ABR Certified in Radiation Oncology with at least 2 years of experience in a progressive cancer treatment facility.
Minimum: ABR Certified in Radiation Oncology with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a progressive cancer treatment facility.
Licensure and Certification
Preferred: ABR; BLS certification.
Minimum: BLS certification within 30 days of employment; ABR eligible.
Special Skills
Minimum: Proficient computer skills.
