We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Scientist to join our team at Abbott Laboratories. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for leading the design and testing of medical devices, including assistance in material selection, chemical characterization, restricted substance evaluation, and sterilization compatibility.
Key Responsibilities- Participate as a technical expert throughout the product development life cycle.
- Determine clear and specific priorities on the development strategy for new products.
- Be responsible for writing and coordinating biomaterial sections of regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate with cross-functional departments, including process engineering, manufacturing, quality, pre-clinical, clinical, and regulatory, to identify and coordinate contracts with external consultants and/or academic advisors on product development and process optimization.
- PhD degree in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related field with over 15 years of experience in polymer chemistry, biomaterials, or medical device product development.
- Experience with FDA regulations is required.
- Understanding of material biocompatibility and experience with restricted substance evaluations is a plus.
