Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse (RN) has the responsibility, accountability, and authority to deliver safe, effective, quality, excellent nursing care according to the philosophy and goals/objectives of the Department of Nursing.

This position requires a skilled and compassionate RN to provide direct patient care, assess patient physical and psychosocial condition, and formulate a nursing diagnosis.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Provides care that is consistent with the interdisciplinary plan of care and grounded in the principles of Relationship Based Care.
* Assesses patient physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis and formulates a nursing diagnosis through observation of the client's physical condition and behavior, and through interpretation of information obtained from the client and others, including the health team.
* Formulates a care plan in collaboration with the client, which ensures that direct and indirect nursing care services provide for the client's safety, comfort, hygiene and protection and for disease prevention and restorative measures.
* Performs skills essential to the kind of nursing action to be taken, explains the health treatment to the client and family and teaches the client and family how to care for the client's health needs.
* Evaluates the effectiveness of the care plan through observation of the client's physical condition and behavior, signs and symptoms of illness and reactions to treatment and through communication with the client and the health team members, and modifies the plan as needed.

**Requirements:**

* CA RN License
* AHA BLS
* NRP
* Preferred: ACLS

**Physical Effort:**

Performs all physical duties of the job. Requires lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills.

**Education:**

Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing. BSN required by January 1, 2020, unless grandfathered as outlined in March 2014 letter.

**Licensure:**

Valid and current RN license by the State of California. Current AHA or AHA equivalent BLS.
