Job Title: Registered Nurse - Long Term Care

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the VA Finger Lakes Health Care System. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care to assigned patients, while developing technical competencies and recognizing overt abnormal signs and symptoms.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe and effective care to patients, including developing and implementing individualized care plans
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including identifying and reporting abnormal signs and symptoms
  • Complete initial assessments of patient condition and response to treatment, and initiate follow-up as needed
  • Include patients and families in developing care plans and establishing goals
  • Revised care plans based on evaluations of patient responses and outcomes
  • Use electronic medical records and medication administration systems to document patient care
  • Ensure that all Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JHACO) standards for professional nursing care are met
  • Complete medical record forms in compliance with VA guidelines and policies
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of all recorded entries in patient records
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and individual differences in the workforce and patient population

Qualifications:

  • Holds a diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program and holds a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any State
  • Has been practicing actively as an RN in an acute or long-term setting for at least the last two years
  • Is capable of providing complex and comprehensive nursing care for adult medical and surgical patients
  • Has and maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Has no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with performance of assigned duties
