Position Overview:
Our National Security Sector is in search of a Systems Software Engineer to contribute to a significant enterprise IT initiative for an Intelligence Community client.

This hybrid role will focus on the development of a new solution to replace an existing system that has reached its end of life, utilizing cutting-edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
The Systems Software Engineer will collaborate within a team to design, develop, test, integrate, and deploy solutions for critical operational needs.

As the current system approaches its end of life, innovative solutions must be crafted and integrated to meet user demands effectively.

The objective is to architect and deliver an enterprise-level system with a modular and segmented framework capable of supporting both large-scale and small-scale applications across diverse use cases.

To meet the technical requirements, the Systems Software Engineer will engage in full lifecycle IT activities, ensuring the successful design, development, testing, integration, and deployment of solutions.


Responsibilities Include:


- Developing interfaces and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products, focusing on cloud and big data technologies.

- Creating stateless implementations based on architectures from cloud service providers.

- Managing configuration and data repositories (such as GIT and GITHUB).

- Formulating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and demonstrating knowledge of Active Directory (AD) and other client-specific access interfaces for credential management.

- Collaborating with multiple COTS vendors to integrate products in various Linux and Windows environments.

- Establishing a rigorous versioning system that ensures reproducibility through training and validation.

- Creating a DevOps environment and utilizing tools such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Chef, and Terraform.

- Conducting software testing using unit testing and/or automated testing tools like Angular and Selenium, coordinating with partner teams as necessary.

- Adhering to client-specific security protocols and preparing comprehensive program and user documentation.

- Supporting the development of security documentation for software environment establishment and collaborating with technical team leads to understand current systems and specifications.

- Leveraging expertise to recommend enhancements for efficient and effective development.

- Communicating and sharing knowledge within and across organizational boundaries.

- Working independently and in small teams.

- Applying current industry best practices in software development, including iterative and incremental project management techniques and agile methodologies.


Basic Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.
- Ability to undergo additional security screening processes as required by the client.

Typically requires a BS degree and 12 – 15 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 10 – 13 years of relevant experience. A Doctorate in a technical field may also be considered.


- Proven experience with tools utilized in cloud services.
- Demonstrated ability to establish stateless implementations from cloud service architectures.
- Experience with configuration management and data repositories.
- Familiarity with COTS products in Linux and Windows environments.
- Proficiency in using DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Chef, and Terraform.
- Experience with React, CentOS, Debian, and Postgres.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with MySQL, Python, Bash, JavaScript, UI development, and Node JS.
