Job Title: Family Advisor

Job Summary:

The Family Advisor is a critical member of our team at the State of Montana, working closely with families who have children with disabilities. As a Family Advisor, you will provide support and guidance to families, helping them navigate the complexities of special education and disability services. Your expertise will ensure that families receive the resources and support they need to help their children thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist families in understanding their child's disability and developing strategies to support their child's development
  • Provide guidance on accessing disability services and resources
  • Collaborate with schools and other service providers to ensure seamless support for families
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to meet the unique needs of each family
  • Provide training and education to families on disability-related topics

Requirements:

  • Considerable knowledge of child development, family engagement, and disability services
  • Sign language skills highly preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and build strong relationships with families
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Special Education, Orientation and Mobility, or related field
  • Experience working with children with disabilities and their families
  • Knowledge of disability laws and regulations
