Position Overview

South College is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Adjunct Faculty in Physics at our Nashville Learning Site. This position involves delivering instruction on various physics concepts, including but not limited to the principles of mechanics (both translational and rotational), gravitational forces, impulse, momentum, work, energy, conservation laws, and fluid dynamics.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver quality instruction for each assigned course in alignment with the approved academic curriculum.
  • Maintain South College standards regarding classroom management, technology utilization, grade submission, and record-keeping.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching and assessment strategies to engage students.
  • Support student achievement through mentoring and tutoring initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • A master's or doctoral degree in the relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including at least 18 graduate semester hours in the field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in postsecondary teaching is preferred.

This adjunct faculty position is appointed on a quarterly basis, with classes primarily scheduled during weekdays, though evening and Saturday morning sessions may also be required. The course delivery format may vary based on student needs and preferences, encompassing both online and in-person instruction.
