Job Title: Behavioral Intervention Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Behavioral Intervention Specialist to join our team at YAI. As a Behavioral Intervention Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the habilitative, behavioral, and psychiatric needs of individuals with I/DD.
  • Develop and implement individualized habilitative and behavior support plans using evidence-based interventions and strategies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless delivery of services and support.
  • Provide training and guidance to direct care staff on behavioral interventions and support strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and agency policies.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a clinical or treatment field, such as psychology, social work, or applied psychology.
  • Documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and travel to multiple programs as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with individuals, families, and staff.
  • Strong dedication to enhancing quality care and incorporating strategies and techniques to support individuals with I/DD.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of I/DD, including autism spectrum disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, and traumatic brain injury.
  • Understanding of co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses, such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and OCD.
  • Knowledge of hierarchy of restrictive/intrusive interventions and expected therapeutic effects of psychotropic medications.
  • Current certification in Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-R or SCIP-R Restrictive) and CPR.
