Job Title: Vice President of Communications

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President of Communications to join our team at In Our Own Voice: National Black Women's Reproductive Justice Agenda. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our strategic communications plan, elevating our brand identity, and fostering collaboration across departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with our organization's mission and vision
  • Create and implement campaigns that effectively reach new audiences, build our base of supporters, and raise Reproductive Justice visibility
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, outlets, and consultants to grow our media presence
  • Inform and support our strategic partners in lifting up their leadership voices
  • Oversee press releases, op-eds, pitching, and other media strategies to prompt coverage on Reproductive Justice issues
  • Track, measure, and report on communications, media, and social media metrics
  • Strengthen our brand identity and visibility at the intersections of Reproductive Justice and human rights
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or relevant area of study
  • 8 years' experience working in communications, with a substantive track record of nonprofit leadership
  • Experience serving as a media spokesperson, with the ability to train others
  • Extensive commitment and knowledge of Reproductive Justice and the empowerment of Black women
  • Strong ability to execute communications strategies with an intersectional lens
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Financial acumen regarding efficient use of budget and resources
  • Superior strategic thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills
