We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and assistance to the Director of Facilities Management, performing laborer, general maintenance and service work for our facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing building equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Identify and resolve issues with defective or inoperative Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing building equipment, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity.
- General Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs of miscellaneous equipment, including basic carpentry tasks such as installing drywall and flooring, painting, and other related tasks.
- Facilities Support: Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, and other activities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
- Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and sanitary environment for all staff and visitors, including cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming floors, and emptying and cleaning wastebaskets and trash containers.
- Environmental Health and Safety: Assist with the coordination of the environmental health and safety program, including hazardous waste disposal and paper recycling.
- Project Management: Assist with the planning and execution of projects, including moving furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools, and performing on-site and off-site material deliveries.
- Experience: Four (4) years of full-time paid experience working as a Laborer, Service Worker, Construction Worker, Maintenance Worker, or performing work in the skilled trades.
- Licenses and Certifications: A valid State of Michigan Driver's License with a safe and acceptable driving record.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of building operations and maintenance, basic electrical maintenance and repair, basic plumbing maintenance and repair, basic carpentry skills, and building fire suppression requirements. Strong attention to detail, multitasking, prioritizing, project management, and time management skills are also required.
This position requires frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee will also be exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions on facility grounds and may be required to work in an extremely noisy environment.
This position requires occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call work assignments. The employee must be able to lift or move items over 50 pounds and have specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
