Job Summary:

The Refrigeration Technician II is a key member of our retail operations team, responsible for maintaining, installing, and repairing refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment. This role requires a proactive approach to supporting store operations, with a focus on troubleshooting mechanical failures, performing equipment maintenance, and processing work orders under the direction of the Divisional Refrigeration Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of refrigeration systems and collaborate with stores/facilities to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect, repair, modify, and install HVAC equipment, including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, chillers, water cooling towers, and forced air converter units.
  • Conduct regular checks and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration units, isolated heating and ventilating units, and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Diagnose and maintain all mechanical, electrical, and control aspects of supermarket refrigeration systems through repair or replacement of defective parts in units and equipment and their controls.
  • Install and remove equipment as needed for remodels and upgrades.
  • Develop and implement procedures and strategies to improve performance, reduce downtime, and lower costs.
  • Maintain regulatory records and adhere to company policies.
  • Provide efficient and courteous customer service to store locations.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in refrigeration maintenance and completion of an accredited training program on refrigeration principles, or 3 years of experience in refrigeration maintenance.
  • Experience with single and parallel refrigeration compressor systems and ability to troubleshoot and maintain these systems independently with moderate supervision.
  • Competence with electronic refrigeration control systems.
  • Valid refrigerant certification.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • U.S. citizen or valid work permit.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks, and interact with various levels of individuals daily.
