Job Summary

Penn State Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Lab Scientist to join our team in Hershey, Pennsylvania. As a Medical Lab Scientist, you will be responsible for performing complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, analyzing chemical content of fluids, and cross-matching blood for transfusion and organ transplantation.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, including blood banking, coagulation, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Identify and analyze microorganisms, including bacteria, parasites, and viruses.
  • Conduct quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide timely and accurate laboratory results.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with new technologies and techniques.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
  • Eligibility for certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
