Diesel Mechanic Job Description

The Diesel Mechanic is a critical role at Standlee Premium Western Forage, responsible for the maintenance and repair of diesel-powered vehicles. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnostic Testing: Run diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify issues and determine the necessary repairs.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform repairs and maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles, including repair history and maintenance schedules.
  • Quality Control: Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist to ensure high-quality workmanship.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain a parts inventory and ensure that all necessary tools and equipment are available.
  • Shop Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness of the shop and maintain a safe working environment.

This role requires a strong understanding of diesel engines, electrical systems, and mechanical principles. The ideal candidate will have a degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering and ASE Diesel Certification. A valid driver's license is also required. The Diesel Mechanic will work a regular 40-hour week, with some overtime possible. The work environment is typically noisy and dirty, with exposure to hazardous materials and equipment. Travel to local Standlee locations may be required.
