Diesel Mechanic Job Description

The Diesel Mechanic is a critical role at Standlee Premium Western Forage, responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel-powered vehicles. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
  • Diagnostics and Repair: Run diagnostic tests to identify issues, analyze results, and repair or replace faulty components.
  • Engine and Transmission: Replace engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems as needed.
  • Electrical and Lighting Systems: Check and repair electrical systems, including lighting and ignition systems.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on service trucks to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles, including maintenance history and repair notes.
  • Shop Maintenance: Ensure the shop is clean and organized, and maintain a parts inventory.
Requirements:
  • Education: Degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering.
  • Certifications: ASE Diesel Certification.
  • Experience: 3+ years of proven diesel mechanic experience.
  • Skills: Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and mechanical repair techniques.
  • Physical Demands: Physically fit, able to lift up to 150 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment.

This is a regular 40-hour week position, with some overtime required. Work is typically performed in workshops, factories, and office buildings. May work in noisy and dirty conditions, and may be required to travel to local Standlee locations by vehicle.
