POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Medical Officer acts as the principal Physician and health authority as mandated by national standards.

This role involves overseeing clinical services at the facility to ensure the effective delivery of necessary medical care, without additional managerial duties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduate of an accredited medical institution.
  • Fully licensed to practice in the state of employment.
  • Current DEA Registration.
  • Preferred Board Certification.
  • Fluency in English, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate teamwork.
  • Capacity to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Ability to interact tactfully with personnel, families, visitors, and the public.
  • Possess leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Experience in sub-acute inpatient care and hospitalist settings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Consult with community medical providers to address service delivery issues.
  • Supervise clinical services provided by professional and support staff.
  • Ensure availability of on-call services.
  • Review and approve clinical protocols, policies, and medical disaster plans annually.
  • Manage referrals to external healthcare facilities for quality and continuity of care.
  • Support Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners in compliance with state laws.
  • Serve as a resource for all staff Physicians and clinical personnel.
  • Assist in the recruitment and evaluation of healthcare providers.
  • Participate in training sessions.
  • Represent the healthcare program in discussions with local groups as needed.
  • Attend required medical and clinical meetings.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with therapeutic regimens and formulary protocols.
  • Provide emergency treatment and respond appropriately in urgent situations.
