Position Overview
In this role, you will operate under the general supervision of the attending physician or their representative, overseeing and directing the functions of a select group of physician assistants or medical extenders. You will carry out clinical responsibilities typical of a Physician Assistant within a healthcare or specialized medical environment. This position involves training, orienting, and delegating tasks to Physician Assistants; serving as the primary reviewer; recommending hiring candidates; and assisting in disciplinary actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute the duties of a Physician Assistant while also fulfilling the responsibilities of a lead PA in a healthcare or specialized medical environment.
- Provide orientation, training, and task assignments to Physician Assistants. Serve as the primary reviewer for a small team of Physician Assistants, making recommendations for hiring and assisting management with disciplinary matters.
- Formulate and obtain approval for protocols, standards, policies, and procedures. Ensure adherence to established protocols and policies.
- Establish, submit for approval, and manage the annual staffing budget.
- Maintain and organize employee work schedules, including patient load assignments. Approve and schedule time off requests, including vacations. Keep accurate employee records.
- Design, implement, monitor, and adjust clinical rotations for student Physician Assistants as necessary.
- Organize and execute in-service training programs for the department's Physician Assistants.
- Engage in various committees as assigned.
- Continuously enhance professional expertise through relevant educational and organizational activities.
