Job Summary:

The Conveyor Belt Mechanic is a critical role at FreshDirect, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing conveyor belt system. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining plant equipment, learning to balance other distribution center equipment, executing the plant preventive maintenance program, and providing technical support to the maintenance team.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain plant equipment, primarily related to manufacturing conveyor belt/system
  • Learn to balance other distribution center equipment at the FreshDirect Campus
  • Execute the plant preventive maintenance program
  • Provide technical support to the maintenance team and train others as needed
  • Work with electrical controls and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation

Requirements:
  • 4-6 years of experience as conveyor belt and/or system mechanic/technician required
  • Technical education related to mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration is required
  • Safely operate various shop-related equipment
  • Lay out and construct additional electrical circuits or deleted circuits
  • Diagnose electrical problems using various meters and related equipment
  • Mechanical experience with varied kitchen and distribution center machinery
  • Read and understand electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Working knowledge of three-phase motors and control circuits
  • OSHA safety certification is a plus
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • In a workday: standing/walking 8-12 hours
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals
  • Constant exposure to temperatures
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
