Surgical Technologist

As a Surgical Technician at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective completion of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Under the guidance of surgeons, nurses, or other designated personnel, you will perform preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative duties within the scope of licensure to ensure a safe operating room environment and proper equipment function.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare the operating room and patient for surgical procedures by applying principles and techniques of asepsis.
- Set up sterile equipment, instruments, drapes, and solutions.
- Assist with scrubbing, preparation of sterile field, gowning/gloving members of the surgical team.
- Provide safe handling and care for instruments and specimens.
- Operate sterilization devices, including immediate use containment devices, autoclaves, and other types of sterilizers.
- Identify emergencies and initiate or participate in the appropriate response.
- Stock and replenish the operating room with new sterile items and check equipment for proper function.
- Graduation from a surgical technology program accredited through the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology (ARC-ST) or successful completion of formal on-the-job training.
- Registration with the State of Washington.
- Current certification through the Association of Surgical Technologists.
- BLS with the American Heart Association.
