Nuclear Materials Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Engineer to join our team at Savannah River National Laboratory. As a key member of our Global Security Directorate, you will apply your technical expertise in data management and program evaluation of nuclear material characteristics, packaging, and uses.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate the suitability of nuclear materials inventories for disposition or reuse, in direct support of NNSA and partner DOE sites and programs.
- Collect data and supervise information management to support project and facility operational information needs.
- Interface with SRNL leadership, federal oversight resources, and other sites in the DOE complex.
- Provide written reports and presentations as necessary.
- Ensure all activities follow SRNL safety, quality, records, and training programs.
- Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering field and BS + 7-9 yrs; MS + 6-8 yrs; PhD + 5-7 yrs.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required.
- Experience with one or more disciplines of materials operations, program or project management, safeguards or material accounting, NDA methods, nuclear material production.
- Candidate must be capable of working with an interdisciplinary team and recognize the importance of information support to policy and operations.
- Prior experience in supporting NNSA/DOE-wide task teams.
- Experience with nuclear operations and control room protocols.
- 8+ years of working experience and understanding of the nuclear fuel cycle and uses, history, or disposition challenges of solid nuclear materials.
- Extensive training in nuclear facilities and operations.
- Active DOE Q clearance.
- Experience as Design Authority for Non-Destructive Analysis systems.
- Enrollment in Human Reliability Program.
- Proficiency with databases at top level; working knowledge of Excel, Access, SQL, or VBA.
