The Technology Operations Director will oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of television studio and transmitter equipment to ensure optimal signal transmission while adhering to all FCC technical standards.

The successful candidate will have the chance to engage with the Univision Engineering team, supporting a premier local market News operation.
There will be numerous opportunities to gain experience with systems such as Ross Overdrive production systems, switchers, and SSL audio consoles, along with related terminal gear and graphics equipment.
- Ensure the support and maintenance of a leading news production operation.
- Maintain station functionality through both preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Supervise engineering personnel and contractors as necessary.
- Establish and adhere to routine maintenance protocols and schedules for all broadcast equipment.
- Guarantee compliance with FCC regulations and local, state, and federal laws.
- Conduct necessary performance measurements of equipment.
- Install and maintain control consoles, routers, recording devices, microphones, digital audio systems, transmitters, antennas, and remote equipment.
- Provide maintenance and support for computer networks and associated systems.
- Perform basic HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance, including water cooling systems.
- Collaborate with the TV news and Operations departments to maintain broadcast equipment as required.
- Partner with the local Finance Lead to develop and manage Engineering operational budgets and contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Assist in formulating short and long-term strategies to enhance the station's capabilities in alignment with business objectives and evolving market demands.
- Coordinate with corporate engineering on new technologies, corporate initiatives, and implementation strategies.
- A BSEE, BS in Information Technology/Computer Science, or ASEE, or equivalent relevant experience in the Broadcast Industry.
- Technical training or experience with a proven track record in Broadcast or closely related fields.
- FCC General Class License, SBE Certifications, Computer Networking certifications (CompTIA+ or CCNA), and VMWare certification are preferred.
- Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting high-power TV transmitters and antenna systems, along with a comprehensive understanding of ATSC encoding, modulation, and signal analysis techniques.
- Experience in supporting Live Television Production activities.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of hands-on experience in Television/Radio Broadcast engineering, including supervisory roles in both unionized and non-unionized settings. Strong communication and team leadership skills are essential.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on short notice as part of an on-call broadcast-critical escalation team.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Proficient understanding of applicable FCC regulations.
- Computer literacy in relevant software applications (Microsoft OS and Office Suite).
- Familiarity with computer networking technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot broadcast equipment to the component level.
- Knowledge of Ross, SSL, VizRT, and Weather Company software/hardware products is advantageous.
- A collaborative team player who can efficiently execute repairs and assignments.
- Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Understanding of generators and UPS systems.
- Ability to read and interpret design documentation, including elevations, connection diagrams, and schematics.
- Capability to maintain documentation in line with changes.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to stand, walk, climb, bend, reach, and sit for extended periods.
